PROJECT DETAILS

Invest in a place for the community to stay.
Invest in a place for the community to play.

Project Prosper is the driving force behind building a state-of-the-art camping facility to solidify the LEX Grounds as a hub for tourism in East Central Ontario. The campground will attract new tourist dollars to our local economy and add much needed accommodations. The campground will have all the amenities that people expect in a modern campground, plus amenities unique to the LAS facility that allow visitors to interact with the natural history of the Kawarthas.

In Winter 2021/22, we are starting construction to transform 30 acres of unused land into a vibrant, modern, and full-service campground that will draw visitors from across East Central Ontario. In Summer 2022, we will open Phase 1 which includes 93 serviced sites, and 6 cabins capable of hosting up to 99 families per day.

The Lindsay Agricultural Society invites the community to invest in Project Prosper and take pride in knowing they helped facilitate the creation of an asset that will benefit current and future generations.

LAS HISTORY

The Lindsay Agricultural Society (LAS) was formed in 1854 for the purpose of encouraging an awareness of agriculture and promoting improvements in the quality of life of persons living in the agricultural community and beyond. Throughout the society’s 167 years, it has remained loyal to its mandate, consistently promoting the agricultural community and forging ties through the region with service clubs, youth groups, and other organizations. The LAS hosts the Lindsay Exhibition annually, the fourth-largest agricultural fair in Ontario. The new LAS facilities have hosted numerous other shows and events including prestigious livestock shows, agricultural specialty shows, home and craft shows, trade shows and consumer shows; all of which add strength to the fabric of the community and agricultural life.

When the Lindsay Agricultural Society decided to move from the old fairgrounds on Angeline St. N, it was with the intention to create a facility that would be a lasting legacy for the City of Kawartha Lakes. Adding a full-service campground represents the next step in the evolution of the LEX Grounds. On site accommodation and amenities will further distinguish the LEX Grounds from other facilities. While the Lindsay Agricultural Society is more than just the facility, the facility is key to everything else that the LAS wishes to accomplish.

LAS COMMUNITY BOND

WHAT IS A COMMUNITY BOND?

A community bond is a social finance tool. It is an interest-bearing loan that a non-profit, charity, or co-op can issue to support a project that they are undertaking. Anyone (both individuals and businesses) can purchase a bond and earn a fixed interest rate each year. Our community bonds will be used to partially fund construction of the Kawarthas/Lindsay KOA Campground on the LEX Grounds. Interest will be paid out according to a set schedule, and principal will be paid out at the end of the term of each bond.
